Cannes Film Festival 2020 Announce Shortlisted Films
Organisers of the world renowned Cannes Film Festival, yesterday announced a shortlist of films despite the current situation surrounding Covid-19 which has forced the event to not go ahead this year. The festival is one of the most illustrious celebrations of cinema over the last 73 years.
It was decided last month that the event will be not be practical and a huge undertaking to arrange. A spokesperson said: “As of today, a physical edition seems complicated to organise, so we are going forward with an announcement of films from the (initial Official) Selection at the beginning of June.” Also adding, “that Cannes will now organise a “redeployment ‘outside the walls’ (of Cannes), in collaboration with fall festivals” leading some films to debut later in the year.
Organisers picked 56 movies for their official selection, which you can view below.
Reacting to Ammonite‘s nomination, Francis Lee wrote on Twitter: “In such upsetting times, a little personal joy. I am utterly thrilled Ammonite has been selected for Cannes 2020. To be amongst the other film makers is a complete honour. I can’t wait for you all to see it soon. Thank you”
We at Key couldn’t agree more and can’t wait for you to see this gripping tale.
